Breaking News and Updates

  • CGA will be attending the San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) this year! SDCC is July 17-23, 2013 at the San Diego Convention Center. We will be accepting submissions and have acrylic sliding bottom toy cases available for purchase. Please stop by our Booth #2045.
  • Due to our yearly presence at SDCC, all submissions received to the CGA facility from July 15-26 will be delayed and will go into our grading queue starting on Monday, July 29th. We appreciate your understanding.
  • PLEASE NOTE: We are currently running several weeks behind schedule. While we strive to complete every submission by the projected completion date, our highest priority is giving each submission due process to ensure the quality of grading and casing your fine collectibles. Please be assured that all orders are placed in the que in the order of receipt per membership level and chosen tier. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we work hard to get back on schedule.
  • Please note that our invoice tracker function is currently not working properly. To check on the status of your invoices, email us at custserv@cgagrading.com.
  • AFA recently adopted the use of 'plus grades' within the silver and gold level scales (i.e. grades 75 and higher) to better identify items which are 'borderline' grades. These additional grade options have been in use within the VGA grading scale for over a year and have proven to be very effective, especially when applied to items which don't have applicable sub-grades assigned. To date 'plus grades' within the AFA grading scale have only been assigned to select items without sub-grades. Additional information about 'plus grades', the greater accuracy they offer, and instructions on how to have previously graded items re-evaluated will be posted very soon. We plan to use these new grade intervals for all item types by early next year. Stay tuned for more information about these and other new enhancements to AFA's services.
  • AFA now grades loose, complete Generation 1 Transformers up to the size of Optimus Prime, Megatron, and Jetfire. Please submit them for grading under one of our new tiers for loose Transformers listed here.
  • AFA has added conservative minimum value requirements for several types of vintage collectibles to ensure they are properly insured in return shipping to you. For additional details please visit our Minimum Declared Values page.
  • Attention Collectors in Japan.  Hakurai Toys is now our official Japanese Submission Center, so if you don’t want to worry about shipping your items to the United States and clearing them back through customs, please contact them for information on how they can help take care of the submission process for you.
